While SremmLife isn't the greatest thing to ever come out of hip hop, it's a cool album to start the year off and a worthy debut for two creative young brothers who just came onto the scene. Some of the album's highlights include the flamboyant "My X," my personal favorite, "YNO" which enlists the help of seasoned rapper Big Sean, and the unexpectedly sweet banger, "Safe Sex Pay Checks." #ThisCouldBeUsButYouPlaying is one of those phrases you'll see all over social media and these boys have effortlessly turned it into an auto-tuned hook. Other tracks are instantly quotable, as they're taken straight from the hashtags of Instagram. Even Kendrick Lamar can't escape the mumbled hooks of "Unlock The Swag." Shout out Mike Will! Ī lot of songs on this album will easily embed themselves in your brain for weeks on end with their pervasive three-worded hooks (see tracks like "Lit Like Bic," "Up Like Trump," and the Nicki-Minaj-assisted, "Throw Sum Mo"). In addition to Mike Will, who produced all but two tracks, the legendary MC Nas has also given the album his own stamp of approval via twitter. StremmLife certainly reflects their carefree and confident demeanor, with catchy bangers and club hits abound.
